Artist Bio

Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) was born on February 16th. 1990 at Toronto, Canada. He started his musical career with his debut mixtape House of Balloons released in 2011, later followed up by two more mixtapes, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. Abel would release a compilation album of all these mixtapes into his well known 'Trilogy'. These mixtapes would change the RnB scene as its dark alternative R&B would revolutionize into the modern R&B we know today. He would continue his journey with the highly underrated Kiss Land, smash hits that are Beauty Behind The Madness, and Starboy. The depressing mellow EP that is My Dear Melancholy. His biggest and most impactful album yet would be After Hours with the most streamed song of all time 'Blinding Lights.' Thus would begin the latest trilogy as he followed this successful album with Dawn FM, an underrated 80s throwback album filled with hidden gems. The final album in this current trilogy released in January of 2025 called Hurry Up Tomorrow, which also happens to be the final album under the moniker 'The Weeknd'. Utlimately one of the modern examples of a musician willing to break boundaries and experiment with every era and album.
